I am the proud owner of Alana Kai Salon. I have been doing hair for 10 years and I can say I have truly found my passion. There is nothing that makes me feel happier and satisfied than to see happy clients leave with the hair that they ask for and the excitement of making future appointments so that I can always take the best care of their hair. Since I began doing hair I have tried my best not only to meet all my clients hair color and cut dreams and goals but to do it in a safe and healthy way! The most important thing to me as a hairdresser is maintaining the best integrity of the hair. I have opened my dream hair salon so that I can continue to create beautiful custom hair to each and everyone of my clients.

My name is Christy and I have been in the hair industry for 15 years. I love being able to connect with people on a daily basis while making them feel beautiful. Although doing hair is my absolute passion, I love to travel with my friends and try all different kinds of foods and activities! I joined the Alana Kai team with a warm and happy welcome and I can't wait to welcome you all! I would love to see you as my client!

Hello there! My name is Madelyn Smith! I have been doing hair since January 2017 and have been on the Alana Kai team since March 2021! I love doing color—specifically natural, “lived-in”, and blonding services. One of my favorite things about being a hair stylist is helping clients feel beautiful and confident with their hair! I’m Christina! I have been in the hair industry for 20 years. I started doing hair because I was drawn to the artistry involved in it. To be able to enhance someone’s hair either with color or a cut is so rewarding! I love dimensional color, all blonding services especially balayage and lived in color. When I’m not at work I love spending time at the beach. I love reading, art, going out to try one of Richmond’s many restaurants and spending time with friends and family

Hey! My name is Gabby and I’ve been doing hair for 15 years! I recently joined Alana Kai as a Manager and Stylist, which is the best of both worlds for me! Hair is my first passion because I love connecting with people and building relationships. Also, Having a management position gives me the opportunity to lead change in the salon in a positive way and help fellow stylists reach their goals while maintaining long term growth. When I’m not working, I spend my time hanging out with family and friends, binge watching tv shows, or looking for an adventure. I’m so happy to call Alana Kai my “home” and I look forward to meeting all of you!

My name is Mallory Hodge I am 23 and I have been doing hair for 3 years, my favorite service is hightlights but I love a good transformation color! I grew up watching my grandmother do hair and also having her do my hair. The best thing about my job is the happy faces I get to see when we have reached your hair goal. Hey, I’m Keyla (pronounced Kay-la). I was born and raised in Guatemala, but moved to the US in 2010 and RVA has been my home ever since. I have been a hair stylist for 6 years now and I absolutely love it! Jayde Haygood

Hey, Hi Y’all, I’m Jayde!. I began my career as a hairstylist in 2020 after having a passion for many years of everything hair! My goal is to always make everyone who sits in my chair feel beautiful, therefore I will never turn anyone away. I enjoy doing balayage since it provides such a seamless lived in look, but I also love working on all different hair types and hair colors. I also love doing extensions (primarily K Tips) and braids/ special occasion hair. Some things that I love to do outside of the salon are singing, art, and traveling/adventuring to new places, loving on my 3 fur babies, and meeting/talking to new people! As of April 2024 I joined the Alana Kai team and I am grateful for the opportunity to still service my existing clientele as well as grow in this atmosphere and establish new client relationships! Excited to meet everyone!

Hey, I’m Alex! I have been in the hair industry since 2018, but have had a passion for hair since I was 12 years old making hair tutorial videos! Hair is my escape where I can get inspired and make somebody feel amazing when they leave my chair. When I’m not in the salon, I’m spending time with my husband, daughter, and two cats cuddled up inside playing video games or crafting. I can’t wait to chat it up with you in my chair!

Hi everyone, My name is Candace! I’m currently a freshly licensed apprentice here at Alana Kai! I was inspired to become a stylist as a kid, by my grandmother, and with lots of effort/ dedication I am where I am today. Hi everyone! My name is Amber and I am currently an assistant at Alana Kai and an aspiring hairstylist enrolled in the apprenticeship program. I am from Richmond, Va and recently became interested in beauty and hairstyling. I have been part of Alana Kai for almost 6 months now and have already learned so much from Katia and all the amazing stylists here! I am so grateful to be part of such a supportive team and am so excited to see what the future holds for me here. In my free time I love hanging out with my friends and family, going to the beach, and seeing live music every chance I get. Well hello! My name is Saylor Gray and I am truly blessed and honored to be a part of Katia’s talented team at Alana Kai. I am originally from the beautiful and historic Northern Neck of Virginia. I have embraced living in Richmond and getting to know the area. Outside of work, I enjoy decorating, fashion, nature, spending time with family/friends and my beloved pets. I have a creative spirit and a love for art—now with hair as a blank canvas. I believe each person is unique in their style and their stories. My specialty areas will not only include highlighting, balayage, hair extensions and hair health, but also getting to know all of you! I can’t wait to meet you and make your vision a reality!

Hi guys, my name is Autumn! I’ve been doing hair since June of 2020. My favorite thing to do is blondes and balayages. I joined the Alana Kai family back in May of 2021. I sadly had to leave in August of 2021 to go to a salon closer to home in Williamsburg where I was living at the time and where I was born and raised. Fortunately I had the opportunity to move to the Richmond area in March of 2022 and returned back to my hair home in February of 2022. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends on the river or at any kind of country concert. I hope to see all of your beautiful faces in my chair here at Alana Kai salon in Short Pump.

Hi there! My name is Sommer and I am an assistant in Alana Kai’s apprenticeship program working towards becoming a licensed hairstylist. I have been in the beauty industry for about 2 years and am getting so close to being licensed. My desire to become a hairstylist started when I was in college. I would do my roommates and college mates hair and makeup whenever we would go out. I quickly realized how much I loved dolling up my friends and helping them feel beautiful & confident. So I dropped out of college and began working at a hair salon and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I truly love what I do and I am so thankful to get to learn under Katia and the rest of our amazing team! I am excited to see all of your beautiful faces in the salon & hopefully one day in my chair!

Cancellation Policy Effective Immediately

Alana Kai Salon is introducing a new policy regarding booking all appointments. Due to a surge in no-shows and last minute cancellations, we will be requiring a credit card to be on file for all services: 50% deposit will be required for all color services (if booking online, it requires a 50% deposit for all services automatically). This deposit will be credited to your services when you check out the day of your appointment.

In the event that you need to reschedule, if it is done within 24 hours of your appointment time, the 50% deposit will apply to your next appointment. However, if the cancellation and/or rescheduling is done after the 24 hours of your appointment time, then it will result in a 50% charge of the service. All No Shows will be charged 100% of the service.

Hand Tied Hair Extensions

Consultation appointments are required before booking any extension hair services.The consultation appointment consists of color matching the hair, deciding the amount of hair needed for the desired results, going over pricing, and the required maintenance to maintain them. Once these have been discussed we can move forward to providing you with the hair of your dreams.

Now offering New Talent Pricing. These are freshly licensed apprentices that have been working alongside our talented stylists. They are now booking to apply their learned techniques and gain experience to grow their clientele.

The * listed indicates that the price will be the same regardless of the stylist level.
